In case anyone is interested in an OTA alternative to pushing from the server: we plan to send a broadcast message from the BES to our 700+ clients (all 4.0+ but a mixed bag). The message will include the link to the update site and instruct them to wheel down and get the link from their devices.

The thinking behind this is that users will better tolerate the 10-20 minutes it takes to update the device if they're responsible for kicking it off. Chances are better that they won't pop out battery thinking their device is hung up.
