^^ I can not speak to the problems cutting out but Id assume that the difference in length is to allow one ear's cable to loop around the back of the head. This will allow the wire to hand down one side of the body, not right down your center line.

RE: 8800 media features, I really really want this to have A2DP! I think I am going to be disapointed in that though.
