There is a possible way, but after finishing your beer from the previous suggestion you could look at this. This isn't a end-all solution, but it might be worth it to investigate.

The backup format (*.ipd) is actually a spec (and a patent!) - Inter@ctive Pager (an old RIM device, the first maybe?). There are people who have deconstructed it in various ways, for example:

SMS_Borer - Export SMS data from backup file(.ipd)

I was looking into this recently, and I found some forum in Japanese that had a guy writing a complete IPD editor in .NET 2.0 framework; I'm afraid I can't find the site though to help you out, but it's out there. Screenshots & such were about all I could read on the site, it's all in kanji.

So, it would be possible to do an Advanced backup and only select the AutoText, then open that file and edit it. The work now comes in you'd need a programmer to help you out with all the IPD mumbo jumbo; if it's worth it to your company then maybe even hire one of the nerds from BBF.

Just some FYI, it's an interesting project.
