Trying to install a Pearl as a modem as instructed in thread http://www.blackberryforums.com/blac...em-laptop.html

When I click Query Modem in Phone and Modem Options I get an "OpenComm" error: "The port that the modem is attached could not be opened. This may be the result of a hardware conflict. Check the device manager to verify all devices are functional."

All ports seem fine.

"Standard Modem" is on COM4. Under Ports in the Device Manager the RIM Virtual Serial Port v2 is listed on both COM4 and COM5.

Running Vista on a Dell Inspiron E1505 laptop.

Any suggestions welcome.
