8800, BES, with google mobile maps (gmm).

It seems that if you start the maps and either switch to another application, or even exit maps correctly, the gps function continues to try to keep track of your location. Even when your indoors, or in a place with limited cell phone signal. This quickly drains the battery

It seems that if you pull the battery and reboot, and don't restart gmm, you don't start up the gps function, and the battery isn't effected.

Is there some way, without pulling the battery, to tell the BB to stop gps monitoring?
