When I purchased my Bluetooth adapter I too was disappointed to find out that the Bluetooth option in the Desktop Manager would only work with the Microsoft Bluetooth stack, meaning I would have to have a Bluetooth device that had native Windows drivers.
Then I found a web site that shows how to add your Bluetooth's device information to Windows' bth.inf file. That way Windows will think there is a native driver, and install the Microsoft Bluetooth stack.
The web site is here:
Sheer Boredom - Getting Bluetooth To Work
Hope this helps you get your Bluetooth device working.
