A license is a license.
Whether you get it for free, at a promotional price, or you have purchased the license has no bearing to the rights it brings alongwith it.
Once you have a registered copy, you are at the same standing as all other registered members. This means if an upgrade is free for registered members, it will be free for you. If an upgrade is paid for registered members, it will be paid for you.
A registered member is a registered member (irrespective of how you get the license - a free copy or a purchased copy.)
