This is something that has been fixed with BES 4.1.2 and later I believe.

The only way around this...until your BES admin upgrades to the latest version, is to go into Desktop Manager. Double Click Backup/Restore --Click Advanced...then find the messages on the phone and click "Clear". This is the only work around for this that I'm aware of.
