Dew and gibber, sometimes a simple battery will fix that glitch, and no, it is not common, but it happens, yes. This morning (with my 8800 on AT&T) I thought the AT&T EDGE network was down (my TMo 8700 had EDGE and receiving mail, etc.) so I pulled the battery on the 8800 and rebooted, 60 seconds later, email all piling in and the network indicator was back on EDGE.
