I have the 8820 on Orange in the UK. The wifi in the 8820 seems to be a standard wifi and works on my home network. I surf the internet using the 8820 browser with no problems. My contract with Orange does not deal with wifi at all. Is seems quite strange AT&T would have an extra charge for wifi usage. Could they be referring to a broadband connection? I somehow doubt they would charge you to use the built in wifi.
