Just got finished performing surgery on mine. yes i had been attacked by the dust gnomes!! I looked at the youtube video from this post, and realized that it is really simple. This also gives you a chance to tighten up those loose side bumpers since the same screws hold them in. I was careful not to touch the screen itself using compressed air and dry Q-tips (careful not to touch the foam with the Q-tip as the fibers will stick and make you even more frustrated). It looks like the design is fine just the precision of the pieces are poor . I did a little hand forming to ensure the foam seals were going to keep contact and gave a little extra turn on the screws (gentle!!!)I will let yall know if the gnomes return.
