I haven't had any problems. I have the 4.2.1.101 from AT&T (I think) and I am on T-Mobile. All the OS's come from RIM anyway, and then the carriers decide if they want to release them. There are some that MAY cause issues. The most recent incident that comes to mind is where users of unlocked BlackBerry Curves have trouble installing certain OS versions while on T-Mobile.
