If by "stock" you meant the leather (is it leather?) pouch that came with the Curve, then there is a difference of what you like. I for one did not like the pouch as it didn't protect the BB when I was using it. With the case I know that it has a level of protection when it's in my hand or on the desk. Also, the pouch didn't have a lip or belt loop so it's either carried in your hand or in your pocket.
