Connecting to the Desktop Manager turns off your radio? That is just crazy.

However, connecting to the Desktop Manager DOES disable email redirection by default.

This is a setting for each user on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, and on your Desktop Manager under Redirection Settings (recently renamed to Email Settings).
