How you walked away with that impression is beyond me. ;)

RIM's product has gone thru several years of refinement.
Service Pack 2 for Exchange is Microsoft's first attempt.

Not saying that Exchange won't rival BlackBerry eventually, but it's their first time out of the gate, and to expect it to perform as well as BlackBerry seems a little unrealistic. <shrug>

Also, with the price of BlackBerry handsets lower than some top-end "regular call phone" models, why would you plan to hang on to it for years? I could see 1-2 years, but the way that technology changes, you're probably going to end up wanting a newer one before then anyways.
