So I would becharged this new $10/month bogus fee. That sucks

I'm currently on the $20 telus to telus voice plan and the $60 unlimited blackberry data plan. What if I were to simply change my phone plan to a higher one, say the Work 45, and leave the blackberry data plan unchanged? I personally don't think that I'd be charged the new fee, but knowing Telus, I could be wrong. what do you think?
