I had the same issue...had it in my pocket, never been wet...blew air into the trackball area, reset with removing the battery, and then it just stopped doing it...I almost replaced it as ATT tech support and RIM had no answer for what was going on. I told them the phone was possessed. They have no script for possessed phones.
