By hard boot I meant pull the battery. It's like rebooting a computer - all memory gets cleared and the machine totally shuts down and reloads the OS at startup.
A soft boot is akin to the sleep or hibernate function of a computer. Not all memory gets cleared. The typical power down on a BB (holding the power button) is a sleep, not a full power off.
Hard boots once a quarter can clear up kooky issues.
