I would think if 3G is available it would access that, and if not, default to EDGE?

Isn't this what happens with EDGE, which can transmit data, and places where I can only use voice only.

My 8200 just broke. I am trying to decide whether to upgrade to a Curve 8310, which will be $80 with a two year contract, and then sell that one (unlocked for $200 in the summer?), and buy the next generation 3G one in summer. My guess is that will be about $500 without an upgrade and $300 with an upgrade...so, by that analysis, it would cost me $100 more or so to buy and use the curve thru the summer.
Those 8200's had horrible quality.......
