Why not just pay the money for the text message plan? I think the cheapest rate for text messaging on VZW is 5 bucks for 250 messages. Just go without that Starbucks venti latte for one day out of the month. =)

Either way, you get hit with charges for any incoming texts as well so I guess unless you're comfortable telling the rest of the world to not text you at all, I don't think there's any way around it. The vtext address will come to your phone as text if you were to give it out.
