With the service I currently use there is a backup of my dataset automatically generated before a sync happens, and you can also create on-demand backups in the web interface. This comes in really handy when you're working on importing large datasets; for instance once a year I import a file with hundreds of appointments - sometimes it screws up and I have to "roll back" in the web interface, fix the import file and try again. Sometimes I might need to do massive changes to contacts (export them, edit in text editor, re-import) which leads to the same problems and need for rollback dataset images.

(this is very different than the typical nightly backup, of course - it's more like a NAS/filer snapshot)

- what happens to the "user1" thru "user4" and "pin" entries from our device contacts on sync?
-Please explain, I am confused. (at least I'm being honest...)
Heh. Open your Contacts on your BlackBerry, add a new Contact and look at the available fields - there exists the PIN field (I'm sure you know what a PIN is) as well as User1, User2, User3, and User4. I don't see these fields on the website Demo and am wondering what happens to the data in these fields when a device sync occurs.

The use of the fields is far-flung - for some of them I keep line items that pertain to that contact; for instance one for the Verizon Business data tech hold my T-1/T-3 circuit IDs, the one for my Dell Rep contact holds my account number, and so on - things you need to know when calling that person, kinda like notes but more organized - think CRM in concept. I'm sure many people have weird uses for those fields, like a 4th or 5th email address (shoot, I have about 20 email addresses for myself alone).

- how do you set the time zone for a calendar entry (for those of us working across many time zones)?
-All appointments have a "Time zone" field - of which the data is synced, to my knowledge. Other than declaring a "time-zone", there's not much we do at this time.
Hmmm - if you log into the web demo and add an Appointment, I don't see anywhere to set the time zone? When you add one on the BB there's a time zone field of course, but I'm not seeing it on the ThinkPost web demo...

Thanks for answering my questions!
