errrrr... AT&T and TMoUS are both GSM networks (overseas if yoe in Europe ;?).
Roughly speaking: AT&T and TMo are GSM networks, using EDGE.
Verizon and Sprint are CDMA networks, using EVDO.

EVDO is faster the EDGE
