I used Bonsai when I was on the Palm too. I still love the desktop version, even now. ToDoMatix doesn't allow for subfolders, I've asked for this. Rex said that it may be considered in the future.
So... you can not do outlining the way you are used to. BUT... ToDoMatrix offers some fantastic features that Bonsai doesn't have, so overally, it was a good move for me.
