The idea to switch to your Dimension Zen theme first is to avoid any error if in process you accidently press 'yes' and delete your currently used theme. I have never tried it before but I think your blackberry might stuck in white screen or something.

But, yes you don't have to switch to Dimension Zen but becareful when you press the yes/no button, don't miss. :D
