Default Other IM Client that communicates with BB IM? - 10-30-2007, 02:20 AM

Hello -

Does anyone know of an application that a friend of mine can use on his iPhone to communicate with me on my Blackberry using Blackberry Instant Messenger? I know I can use the various clients that allow me to log into MSN Messenger or others on my Blackberry, but I'm looking for the reverse, where people can communicate with me while I'm using BB IM.

Thanks!

BB Messenger uses PIN messaging so nothing but another Blackberry will work with it. iPhone doesn't do IM well anyway, other than the web apps available for it.

I could be wrong but I thought that Yak-On had the ability to intercept Pin To Pin messages and make it coincide with the Yak-On aim/msn client..?

The BlackBerry API's, I think, makes interception of PIN messages possible (if allowed by the IT policy). However, it's dramatically different programming from the regular IM stuff.

But at least in theory, it is possible for a 3rd party vendor to add a conduit for PIN messaging, albiet probably with severe limitations.

Thanks,
