Question Ascendo Products (DataVault and Money) - 10-30-2007, 11:56 AM

Hey all, I am looking to find out what kind of data footprint do DataVault and Money by Ascendo leave on the BB? I have some apps installed (see footer) and just want to make sure that they dont eat up a whole lot of space. I am interested in both DataVault and Money. Any feedback would be great, thanks in advance.

Sorry, I guess I mean the storage of data for the programs, do they have a special database that keeps the content that you add in compacted somewhat (similiar to todomatrix/ideamatrix) or will it eat up a lot of space. I will probably install after work, but just thought I would see if anyone who has it installed could check and see if the app is a hog or not.

Hi DaBlackBerryBoy,

All BlackBerry applications use either Java RMS or RIM database APIs to store dynamic data. Ascendo applications optimize the space required, for example, Ascendo DataVault, our Password Manager for BlackBerry, allows the user to store notes for each item with a maximum of 10,000 characters per note. However, we store only the characters entered by the user, so if you enter a 100 character note, it takes 100 bytes. Ascendo Money and Ascendo DataVault include Desktop components that sync, backup & export which would allow you to offload data from BlackBerry if necessary.

As mentioned by djm2, you can determine the initial footprint of our applications by downloading them from our FAQ pages then right clicking on the file with the .COD extension to display the size (typically 150 - 300k).
