Red face English-French Dictionary for a BlackBerry - 10-31-2007, 12:35 PM

Probably sounds kind of a nutty thing to have on a BlackBerry but I REALLY want to have a English-French dictionary. Is anyone having an application like that which works well and is hopefully free?

lola, there are some BB dictionaries out there, but I would encourage you to look at Beyond411. In it, you can set "plug-ins", dictionary and translation being one. Check it out, I just don't recall offhand if an English-French dictionary is one.

Good luck.

Outstanding! I found this just in time for a trip to Lyon.

FYI, there are:

English -> French (enfr)
French -> English (fren)
English -> Italian (enit)
Italian -> English (iten)

Just type enfr:word_to_translate in Berry411.

I would strongly suggest that you consider an offline dictionary for your abroad travel.

It would be interesting to hear (after your return) if this suggestion has made sense.

On a separate note, BEIKS has talking English-French phrasebook. Get it from Welcome to BEIKS mobile! directly on your BlackBerry.

I really, really love the Mobile Systems dictionaries, I use the English <=> Spanish one a lot and it's great. The dictionaries can be stored on your SD card, and you can mix-n-match paid-for dicts and trial dicts at the same time (the reader software is free, it's the dictionary you're paying for).

Mobile Systems - MSDict Concise Oxford-Hachette French Dictionary - Mobile Software for BlackBerry Curve

I can't give them enough "two thumbs up", best dictionaries I've ever had on a device.
