Default eOffice 3 beta available for download - 06-17-2005, 07:50 PM

Fellow forumers,

I wanted to notify you that we have a new version of eOffice available for beta. We got this preview out to our customers and now wanted to give you an opportunity to check out some of the new features in advanced of the rest of the world .

Here is what we have:

On Device Spell Check - now eSpell can check spelling of your e-mails without connecting to a server!

Phone Call Log - eWorks now has a folder which shows the recent phone calls. It is also possible to export the calls into eCell and then into MS Excel.

Calling Card Support - you can create calling cards in eWorks and then automatically dial any person using this calling card. Very useful when calling international or when travelling.

URLs, e-mails, PINs and phone numbers in eWord and eWorks are now shown as links to appropriate applications. For example, you can call a person right from a eWord document with phone numbers.

Automatic carrier detection - now you do not need to select your carrier from the list, it is automatically selected based on available communication options on the device.

Improved installation process - Handheld Software no longer needed to be installed.

Important!

These features required us to exclusively use 4.0 BlackBerry API and as a result, this version will only work on BlackBerries running 4.0 OS. Additionally, on device dictionary takes about 400Kb extra space, thus you need to check if you have that much available.

The software is available here: http://www.dynoplex.com/files/eOffic..._3.001.031.exe (edited)

How long does the beta remain active?

There is no time limitation on the beta. As long as you have a valid license for a commercial version, it will operate. If you;re installing it for the first time, it will give you an option to sign up for a 7 day trial, which we can certainly extend if you send a request to [email address].

We're planning to run this beta for a couple of weeks - it has gone through testing already, we're looking for some unusual configurations before making it official.

We have fixed some minor bugs in the beta based on user feedback and here is the updated version:

Can I ask why this version is asking for a password with the installation?

I then get a message indicating that I'm not running 4.0 or higher on my handheld. This is not true. I have a 7100t running 4.0.

BTW, I'm a registered owner of eOffice.

The installer tries to connect to the handheld to determine the version of the OS installed on it. The password is the device password, you're right - a better message would have helped . If you do not enter the password - it will assume the password is incorrect or the OS is wrong.

Pardon my ignorance, then, but what password?! I don't have a password set up on my BB Phone.

We just posted an update to the beta - fixed a bunch of installation issues reported here and by other beta users, fixed some bugs and added updated documentation to the package. This version is actually looking good and is a release candidate for next week. Here is the download link http://dynoplex.com/files/updates/eO..._3.001.033.exe.

Brandon, could you check if you problem went away?

Default Install Problem - 06-26-2005, 07:17 AM

I keep getting the same error when installing, it happens on ver. .31, .32 and now .33. Does anyone know why?

"The application "DynoPlex XXXX" cannot be loaded, because it requires the following applications that are not available:"

It does not list any apps in this pop up error box, the XXXX is for any of the programs, ie eCell, eOffice or eWord. Whether I try to install 1 app or all of them.

Any HELP out there?

Edit: The only file I can get to install is eFile

Our development team will take a look in the morning - can you send and e-mail with the details to [email address]? Let us know what device you have, your OS and what is installed on the PC (Desktop Manager->Help->About, Handheld Software Tab).

DynoPlex's site seems to be down right now. To be honest, for a $150-200 piece of software, there seems to be a ton of issues with this software.

And I hope I don't have to pay for the upgrade with my purchase being about 6 months ago.

The site is certainly not down and working just fine. What kind of error message do you get that lead you to believe it is?

eOffice upgrades are, and have been, free of charge.

Glad to hear of the free upgrades...wish I could get the file.
Site is working from here.
Sounds like a PC/network problem.

Can you tell me the IP address of the computer you'r connecting from? May be there is some routing problem. Also, if you could try running tracert from command prompt sending me the output?

Oh, the link above is no longer active as the beta is over. Check www.dynoplex.com/downloads.shtml.

Actually, the site was down...it wasn't my network or PC's. Someone from DynoPlex contacted me after I emailed them. It was back up quickly, though, after the correspondence.

The new version is great...
