Default Cryptmagic Installation Error - 11-19-2007, 09:41 PM

I just got an 8310 and am trying to install Cryptmagic on it. I get an error when I load the .alx file in Application Loader which says: "No additional applications designed for your device found." Anyone know how to install it. I know there is an OTA version, but I use Vista and I need the version that will synch properly with the Vista Desktop client (which is version 3.9.41). Thanks.

I believe you need to first install the operating system for your Blackberry 8310. You can usually find it at your carriers website downloads.

Do you mean a full install of the operating system (overwriting the one that was on the device when I received it)?

Yes. For some reason, you can't install certain apps without doing that.

Yes you need the OS for the 8310 installed on your PC. It's on the ATT website.

Assuming I do that, won't it want to upgrade the OS on the BB and require me to do another Enterprise Activation, and reinstallation, etc.?

Assuming everything goes as planned, it will automatically backup all your data, apps, and settings, then install the OS, then load all your data, apps, and settings back.

So you will be back like before you began. Except now, you might have a slightly newer OS and you'll have the ability to load apps through the app loader.

You won't have to do another activation or anything like that...
