I bought and installed BB alerts about 3 weeks ago, and have an on-going problem. Anytime I do a soft reset, or turn my pearl off - when it boots back up, I get a "Uncaught Exception: java.lang.NullPointerException" error. I checked the event log and it is definitely related to the BB alerts. I edited all permissions to "allow" (recommendation from BByMel - the author), and this did no good. The last I heard from the developer (2 weeks ago) was he knew what caused this problem (BB alerts and the OS trying to start-up at the same time), and had a Beta that might fix it. He asked if I was willing to try it, and of course I told him I would. I have heard nothing since, even though I have sent him 4 Emails since then! Do you guys have any idea's how to fix this error? BByMel seemes to have taken his Beta and gone into hiding.

You will have a hard time finding any author who is responsive as BByMel is, he's always helping people out with questions both in PM and on the message board. If you havent heard from him in a little while, he's probably busy with real life, or working on BBA.

I, like many others on this board, have gotten TONS of tech suppor from BByMel, and all for a program that only costs $12...

Anyways, I am sure you will hear from him soon, but in the mean time you should visit the primary BBA thead, there you should be able to get any tech support ? re: BBA answered.

This is not a Mel bashing, nor am I trying to form a posse against him! I'm glad you and "many others" have received such wonderful assistance - but I have not! $12 may not seem like much money to you, but to some of us - it is significant, and regardless of the price - if you post or sell a product and someone needs assistance, we should expect to receive it. I do understand that things happen in real life, but it has now been 2 weeks since he asked me if I wanted to try the beta, and I have sent 4 Emails since then, and still nothing. So, now that we have praised and critiqued Mel, back to my original question...Has anyone had this "Uncaught Exception: java.lang.NullPointerException" problem and found a solution?

I felt I needed to clear this message up!! BByMel had sent me a PM, but I did not get any notification - so I didn't realize it was there!?! The Email address I was using for him quit working, so the 4 messages I sent are in cyberspace. Since I responded to his PM last night, he has sent me 3 Emails trying to help me fix the issue with BBalerts! I consider this pretty damn good tech support, and now - as BigMatty says - I consider myself part of the "TONS" that has gotten good responses from Mel. We still havent resolved my issue, but I am pretty confident he will. Thanks BByMel, I appreciate the help, and apologize for any negative comments I made earlier!
