Too bad, doesn't support BIS connection. I guess I'll have to wait.

You mean it works over the TCP WAP/APN rather than BIS-B transport?

Hello Jaime - Can you please send me an email at [email address] and detail your connection problem a bit more. As far as I know, the BIS connection relies on the GPRS signal as well as our BBerrySync software. During our initial beta testing we were using a standard GPRS signal with the BB device - we did not even have to set the TCP/APN even though we are roaming on another network (not Cingular).

Dawg - I have not seem any email coming from you. Can you please resend to [email address].

So far, we have Donc36 using the mail sync, contacts, tasks, and memo. We have seen one bug so far with the Calendar.

yeah all the emails I sent to the support address bounced back from exchange. I just sent you one to the address above. with as much of the error as I can get , its pops up in a bubble and then disappears pretty quickly
hope you get it squared away.

Also I tried to set up a proxy but it wont open the proxy settings.

I am receiving all the emails and have our techs looking into the issues. I need to take a look into the email issues and why you all are getting the email kickbacks.

the site is up, but the software is still in beta phase and not yet ready for purchase. thank you.

Afaik to get through BIS-B transport you have to get authorized by RIM to use their proxy. Are you aware of this? I've seen many apps that does not support BIS-B transport.

Best,
Jaime

Not true... I have made my custom made apps that uses BIS-B and im not an authorized RIM user for developer/etc... theres some posts on the developing forum saying how to do it, since RIM doesnt document that part of the API and they want you to pay $2,000 USD to become part of their 'developer program'. But any app can use BISB easily, it just requires the right parameters on the connection url (which most app developers dont know/integrate onto their apps)

Hope they get it worked out.

My initial feedback so far:
  1. The balloon notifications that come up every time it's checking for updates really NEED to go away. I don't care that it hasn't found any updates. Actually, I don't care that it has found something either. I'd rather it was silent and invisible.
  2. OTA install?
  3. Website seemed to have some issues with firefox.

Still installing Blackberry desktop software to install the client. I'll post more feedback when I've gotten further.

Ok I am about over this Beta already. No response from them on any fixes yet.
I agree the bubbles are rediculous. Its telling me its syncing but nothing is showing up anywhere.

Ok... After some unrelated Blackberry Desktop Issues... I think I've finally got all the pieces installed. So here's some more comments.
  1. On the device, I have a good connection. So far so good.
  2. I turned off email sync, my email syncing via the Mail Connector works great. I don't want to break it.
  3. Task syncing worked from outlook to device, but not device to outlook.
  4. Calendar syncing at best, does nothing. I had some random meetings appear on my device (old meetings, at very incorrect times). I'm not sure if this is a BBSync issue though.
  5. Contact sync seems to work.
  6. Memo Sync seems to work.
  7. Device interface is pretty clunky. If you do multiple syncs, it seems to pop open a new window every time (you need to press close 3-4 times, if you sync 3-4 times).
  8. At the moment it's telling me about all sorts of meetings, contacts that are being "updated". I haven't changed any of these. That's kinda frightening actually.
  9. I created a calendar meeting at 18:00 on my device, I had a calendar appointment appear on my outlook at 16:00 with no name. I don't know if they're related.

I really, like the idea here. There's a very, very large hole in the Blackberry Application space for this sort of app. I'll definitely keep my eye on this. I'll probably keep this on my device for another day and see what happens.

At the moment, I'm using an outlook->plaxo->google->gsync solution and while that is not exactly pretty (and doesn't do contacts) it's been fairly reliable.

Oh yeah, balloon tips are still annoying.

I did get some feedback this weekend from Josh. My guess is they have a laundry list, and are heads down pecking away at it.

I'm able to sync e-mail, tasks, notes and contacts 2 way. I did experience an issue preventing calendar sync, but, it is the first beta release.

Cory, I got the same notice about being locked out of my account. If you go to the main website BBerysync (I had to use IE) and click on the top left icon (white folder, cd sticking out), there's a download link there. I'm not even sure what the "logged in" page does yet"

Update: I'm on a different computer than I was when I signed up, and now it won't load (lots of javascript errors). If you're on the same computer, go back to the main page and then click the software link, maybe you'll see the download. It seems despite the message of being locked out, you might still be logged in.

I hope you all can stay patient while we work through the bugs and get the beta release version 0.7.1 out to you. For the first people that got their info to me, the were sent the coupon codes and were able to get on version 0.7. For the second batch, I have not sent those out yet - waiting for the 0.7.1 to come out and get you all on that. We have addressed some of those issues raised by Donc36 and Axel. For us, it would more productive if you could be more specific with the bugs so that we can try to replicate the same issues on our end.

I would like people to know that working with the Blackberry SDK is not the easiest thing to do, they hide and lock out an awful lot from you. So please bear with us while we get this program out to you.

If I prefer to do my email sync through BIS/IMAP as-is, can this progam be configured to only sync Contacts & Calendar?

Good to hear you are making progress. Should we wait for 0.71 or continue to test 0.70?

Thanks

Well, I'm glad to let everyone know that we have released BBerrySync version 0.7.2 available for beta tester download from our website > software > (bottom of screen). I ask that everyone part of the first of beta testers uninstall both the device and pc apps and reinstall the apps. Also please take a look at the user guide as we have added an "Initial Sync" step before you start using the app. For the new users, just download and install and initial sync.

Some of the issues addressed:

- the bulk of the work went into revising the data mapping for the first time that the BB device connects to the PC. This will solve many of the sync issues we saw from Donc36, Axel, etc.
- the com error has been corrected
- you can now disable pop up balloon on PC icon tray (right click icon and uncheck the default) - I am happy with this fix too...the techs here liked the balloon...go figure.
- we have adjusted the check interval on the BB device
- have adjusted the mail sync functions so that sent mail from the PC can be placed within the particular folder rather than just the general box. At this time we have not given the user the option of selecting the particular mail accounts he wants to sync or if it is for full duplex of half. This will be addressed in version 0.7.3
- the website and user login has been touched up and should not throw out any "did not register" errors

There are two areas that we are still a little weak on - Tasks and Calendar. We are working on getting the kinks out for version 0.7.3

Thank you all for your patience and time.

Josh

Josh
Good Deal I will load all this up when I get home and run it tomorrow and see what happens.

Thanks Josh,

I haven't really poured into this build yet, but, many of the glitches I reported do seem to be resolved! Nice job!

So what's the general feeling at this point from you brave early adopters...are you early adopters feeling good about the progress and functionality?

This looks like a very good idea, and depending on it's stability and cost a lot of BIS users would be very interested, including me.

still not good I cant get it to connect to the desktop. just sits there saying waiting on desktop and desktop shows cant find device.

Then the program goes non responsive.

OK I have had to restart this stupid thing 27 times now and not one successful sync

Ok after the 10 restarts and the unresponsive program I am done. everytime I click map data it goes unresponsive

I really hope they get it working but I will wait this sucks
