Thumbs up OTA Full Outlook Sync - BIS Users - NOW RELEASED - 11-26-2007, 12:06 PM

NOTE: The software has been released.

Just like the title says, Outlook OTA Sync software for BIS users is in need of beta testers to push it to the limit. The software is called BBerrySync.

Features include:

. OTA Sync sent mail between computer on Outlook (laptop/desktop) and BB device (off course incoming mail is taken care of by BIS)
. OTA Sync contacts, Notes, Tasks with Outlook

Some Design Aspects to keep in mind:

. BBerrySync was designed for users previously using BIS and Desktop Manager - basically, you already have a foundation to begin with
. If using BBerrySync to sync with Outlook OTA for the first time, it will take time depending on the size of your personal folder (BB SDK does not make the data pipeline very big for others to use )
. You will need to sign up for a sync server account with us to handle the routing

We believe this product is what BIS users have always needed to free them from the USB cable!

If you are interested in signing up for the beta testing, please post name in thread and BB device. We intend to have 10 testers and prefer a spectrum of devices. Our website will launch within the next two weeks and the selected testers will be able to sign up for an account, download the application and sync away.

Thank you very much for your time.

Josh, does your solution use standards-compliant SyncML as the protocol, whereby a user could use their own middleman to do the routing?

I'm interested to know how it improves/compares upon the existing solution I use here:

I would be intersted in trying it. I have a unique situation. I have two different exchange servers with BES, but the BB will only allow me to have a single BES account on the phone, so I am forced to use OWA for one of my accounts. This might be the solution I need.

Device = BB8320.

I understand that I may have missed the boat as far as Beta testers, but if you have the room I am open to it. At a minimum, please keep us updated as to the status of this option as it is a potential Blackberry evolution! A real WM sync killer!

Oh, and by the way if you get a knock on your door in the middle of night, answer it with caution as it could be some upset Exchange Hosting Companies and/or BES sales reps themselves! LOL....

Good luck... I am eager to see how this goes!

Well, I guess my thinking that ....since I was announcing the beta test, I should start a new account to signal the change over from just a regular user to a developer....might not have been the best.

To give some background, let me say that I have been a BB user since buying myself a 7290 on Cingular. I loved the functionality that it gave as one who is a heavy email user (not so heavy task or calendar user). The one thing that was always an inconvenience was the fact that my BB sent mail was not sync'd to my desktop or laptop and vice versa. I never had a chance to be on BES but am on Exchange now with BIS.

The software was born out of the desire to give ordinary users like myself the convenience of having my sent mail sync'd. Along the way, there was the added benefit that PIM info could also be sync'd and OTA too!!

BBerrySync is only the name of the software and not the name of the software development company. We are an American company with a development team in Vietnam. Our sync servers are collocated in our own private cage out of a tier 1 facility in Los Angeles.

While I certainly appreciate web wariness, I would hope that you can reserve judgement until we have launched the software and the marketing campaign to let more people know about us and BBerrySync.

Thanks for your time. - Josh

Josh, does your solution use standards-compliant SyncML as the protocol, whereby a user could use their own middleman to do the routing?

I'm interested to know how it improves/compares upon the existing solution I use here:
Nexthaus > Synchronization Products > SyncJe for BlackBerry

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[ Linux & BlackBerry ] Linux Users Corner - BlackBerryForums.com : Your Number One BlackBerry Community
ˇesta usted en territorio rivviepop en rebeldia!

Hi rivviepop:

Because of the proprietary nature of the BB SDK, especially when it deals with their mail API's, we found it better to not follow the SyncML standard. I would like to point out that our and SyncML's are both XML protocols. We just needed additional data schema to handle the BB case and especially the mail.

When we launch the software, it will use our servers to do the routing. We anticipate an Enterprise solution release for those people wanting to host their own sync servers.

With regard to the Nexthaus product, I see the main difference is the email sync. I have not been able to test the product to give a more detailed answer. It looks like you may be the first one to be able to answer that in more detail soon. thank you.

Will this work with company email? Will I have to keep my outlook connected to the company exchange server to receive my mail?

Why create a new user name on the board? Thats usually a big no no. All that info you gave would have been useful in the original post. It would have stopped some of the skeptsism from the folks here.

Being a long time board member there are alot of developers that come through some offer betas that never manifest into anything, other have developed some awesome software. Like BBsmart (shameless plug).

Josh I look forward to you getting this up and would love to take part in the beta when it comes on line. I would talk to the staff about the second name though.

BBerrySync will work with both POP and Exchange. The main user case that we have been able to test thoroughly is as follows:

User has 1 exchange account set up on both laptop and desktop.
User has BIS set up to pull down email without using Redirector (connect direct to Exchange)
BBerrySync has been set up on BB8800 and on laptop and a sync account has been set up on BBerrySync server.
All incoming mail is automatically received by BB through BIS
All mail sent from BB device is sync'd with the server and then brought down to the laptop to the sent mail folder
When Exchange does its thing, then the sent mail folder on the laptop is also sync'd over to the desktop (so the email sent from the BB device is now in the sent mail folder of both the laptop and desktop)
Any mail sent either the laptop or desktop will go the reverse route and eventually make it as a sent message on the BB device
The other PIM information works in the same manner

I hope that clears up most of the general questions. As for the special cases, I will send PM's to address those. Thank you.

As for the issue of multiple ID's, I am just not a expert with forums and thought is easier to create new account than change screen name. But like I said, the josheppi account will no longer be used. It's BBSyncJosh from now on.
