Angry PLEASE HELP! Trouble adding apps to new blackberry - 11-26-2007, 02:52 PM

Please help. I just purchased a new bb Pearl from Verizon. I purchased a few apps from Handango, downloaded the files and unzipped them. I go to the device manager and when I try to add the app by opening the .alx file it tells me that there are "no new applications found for my device".

I think this may be caused by the fact that I don't have a program to open a .alx or .cod file. I have the most updated software and have never used a bb before. What do I need to do to get the apps on my pearl??????

Thanks for the help.

You must load and install your current handheld device OS to your PC, as well.
Application Loader Error - BlackBerryFAQ

Look at your BB > Options > About. What is the "v.4." line state. That is your OS version. Download it from your carrier, install it, and then you will be set to go.

If you have that already, you need to click ADD in the App Loader, and direct the App Loader to where the ALX file is found on your PC.

VZ access manager has nothing to do with it. You need both the Blackberry Desktop Manager which can be found on RIM's site under downloads, BlackBerry, and you also need the device's handheld software installed on the PC. Most BB's come with an install CD, did your? If so, run it and you will be fine. If not, you need to download the correct version from Verizon for your BB, hope this helps.

My package came with two CD's (one from BB and one from Verizon). I installed both and my problem persists. I still think it has something to do with the fact that my computer doesn't know what program to open up a .alx file with (and neither do I). Is this my problem? What do you suggest? Thanks.

Hi bbaler,

allblackberry.com had a great article on this error message recently:

allblackberry.com » No Additional Applications Designed For Your Device Were Found - BlackBerry news and reviews

Just follow the instructions on there and you should be able to get everything up and running.
