Otherwise I'd say you're entering something in your password incorrectly, the login failed indicates it is contacting the server and rejecting the credentials.
I've entered it as "email@example.com" as well as "first.last" and both times, it would say "Login Failed".
I also tried a different Google/Gmail account (with a different password) and it still fails.
My password is correct since I'm using the same password for the Google Voice application, the Google Talk application, and the Gmail application.
