An excellent question! I just tried to do the same thing and couldn't find the paste menu either. I even tried to open up a calendar entry and paste the selection in there but no dice. Seems as though it's not really copying anything.
I just tried to copy text in an email after toggling HTML/Text to text and I was able to copy and paste successfully. So I guess that's a workaround 'til the bug is fixed.

That doesn't work for me, the paste option isn't there. Only Save Draft and Full Menu. Might be a 4.3 issue.

nah... the new 4.3 APIs just changed things around a bit... but def not messy.
the app works great, just need to fix two specific issues.
yes, one of which is the copy/paste issue, which Ani already knows about.
so... give him a bit to finish up the beta and all will be good.

Noted. It worked in previous releases but was introduced in build .50.
Has been fixed in the upcoming beta build .54.
Thanks,
Ani.

The thread title should be changed to "beta testing" or something and when it's finally released they can update it to "New Release".

Yup...my wife would love to give this a shot, and you are going to lose her to BBSmart if the wait extends much longer.

I'll probably go with BBSmart now too. Shame as I was waiting for this and he now seems to be ignoring people that ask when it'll be released.

twice - I am not ignoring. It was a complex project and we were not in a position to give any exact date as bugs were being sorted, new features were being added, and iterations were made a number of times. We just wanted it to be a smooth install for everyone. The good thing is that all the hard work of the beta team has borne fruits and the EMV Pro is now ready for all. I am posting the relevant details in the post following this one.
Best Regards,
Ani.

Empower Mail Viewer - public beta. -
12-18-2007, 11:57 AM
Dear All,
Thanks to the hard work of beta team, EMV Pro is now ready to go for public beta. Currently, only for RIM OS 4.2.1 and higher. Users on 4.1 please do not upgrade for the moment, we are working on 4.1 - a release for 4.1 will be made later.
The biggest improvement is once again - one that we have always taken pride in - the speed of Empower Apps.
If EMV was already fast enough, then Pro is even damn faster. Click on an Email, and see for yourself! You have No waiting, No delay, No progress bars, No nothing. Just click, and boom!
Pro edition also includes a number of new feature like System fonts, Image Cache (both In-memory & SD card!), PocketDay integration, PIM integration, Redesigned headers, Autoupdate notification, different header backgrounds for each account etc etc. We are still compiling a list of all the numerous options and features!
The final release of EMV Pro will be made on Dec 20th. A detailed feature list, upgrade offer details etc. will be made public in the Release Post itself on a new thread.
Till then please feel free to explore the app.. and be amazed.
OTA Download (Again, only for 4.2.1 onwards): http://www.getempower.com/emvpro
Best,
Ani.

The speed, by the way, looks very good. Initial impressions is it's comparable to BBSmart. Nice work.

begin tirade.
I wish to echo the sentiment that maybe you don't realize how rude you're behaving towards a developer that has embraced the BBF community. He is under no obligation whatsoever to divulge any release information or respond on this thread; these two posts of "I'm irate, you aren't fast enough screw you I'll use BBSmart" are like slapping Ani in the face. You for some reason believe this developer *owes* you something, and you couldn't be more wrong.
If you're tired of waiting, that's fine! BBSmart is an option and rock on. Making posts in a thread for the competitor's app saying things like this, that's a huge social faux paux and is what drives developers away from "user" forums. Relax, let them do their job and when things happen they'll let us know. We're here as a community to support them and help, this is not some sort of official support forum for anyone (that I'm aware of).
end tirade.

I keep getting an error message that says something to the effect of: "this application has attempted to open a location inside and outside of the firewall which is not allowed by your IT policy". Then I get an uncaught Java exception message. I don't think this has anything to do with the app itself, but it renders it basically unusable. Any thoughts? (I'm on T-Mobile BIS- I didn't think I had an IT policy!)

galatian-this happens when you have a Firewall on. You need to turn off your Firewall.
Basically, the images are on internet (which is outside your firewall) and the cache is on SD Card (which is on device => inside your firewall). And the firewall policy is set to disallow access to both! You can either disable your Firewall (recommended solution) or switch to in-memory cache under Empower Options > Image Options.
Thanks,
Ani!

Thanks for the super quick response, Ani! The only problem is my firewall setting has a locked icon next to it so I can't change it, and every time I try and get into the Image Options I get a java exception and am kicked back to my homescreen!
(I'm using the policy.bin file from another thread here)

Ok, I will try and find a way for that in the release coming up later tonight.
Also, I got PM from someone about whether we could have font smoothing before the release itself. I have put in that as well.
Thanks,
Ani.
