Question Simple task manager - 12-02-2007, 07:54 PM

Hello all!

Currently using ToDo Matrix-very, very good program but I'm wondering if it's a bit of overkill for me.
Basically what I require is a "sticky-note replacement" something easy to input simple short notes that will give me a reminder after a bit so I don't let things slip through my mental "cracks". I don't need to plan weeks in advance, just trying to keep up with the day-to-day.

Considering giving Ascendo iJuggle, BBTask PRO or PocketDay (personal or professional) a try.

Comments/suggestions appreciated!

One thing about the RexWireless products is they're so easy to use. It might be overkill now, but it will still do the job better (and probably easier) than anything else out there. Plus, if you take on more tasks and projects ToDo Matrix will be ready to handle whatever you throw at it. And of course if you still want something really simple, why not use the built-in Tasks application on your Blackberry?

My take would be that's a NEGATIVE.

I started out thinking that ToDoMatrix was WAY too much for what I was looking for and considered some of the alternatives you mention.

Here, two months later, my take is that going any other way than ToDoMatrix would have been a major mistake. I listened to the Allen GTD audiobook and my life changed literally overnight. I've gotten things done that hadn't been done in 5 years, and frankly, I guess I'd given up on ever getting done.

I'm finding new ways to use ToDoMatrix each and every day. It's become indispensable in my life and absolutely what I utilize my BB for most.

Wow, what an endorsement, MadDog. Good for you!

Maybe I need to give it a second look, I thought it was more than I needed.

It is a killer app and totally worth the trial.... no matter what kind of task user you are. I myself found it too much for me and I am a GTD'er as well... but it is a hardcore application with a ton of positives!

Well, I gave a few of the alternatives a try over the last few days (free trials) and am firmly back with the ToDo and Idea Matrix's.
Don't know if it's just that I'm so familiar with the Rexwireless stuff from the past couple months of use, but the others paled in comparision.
To satisfy my "simple" requirement, I just hid all the dimension folders (I was trying to utilize them all) and got 'er down to bare bones. Works fine-nice and basic, but ready to open up as required.

Rex Rocks.

I think you talked me into giving this another look as well.

Just downloaded BBTask Pro. I've been using it 12 hours and I feel like 2008 is going to be better than 2007 already just because of it.

It's simple, uncluttered (too many of the other programs mentioned have turned into bloatware), and it WORKS WITH EXCHANGE OTA SYNC.

My only complaint is that I can't display deadline dates on the top screen - a small issue considering...

Kudos!

Verizon 7250 > 8703 > 9530 (returned) > 8703 > 9630 #1 > 9630 #2 > 9630 #3 > 9630 #4 < perfect so far!

I have a lot of tasks and deadlines to manage and I just installed PocketDay...love it. I'm sure I'll purchase it after the trial ends.

I've just downloaded ToDoMatrix, and so far it seems pretty cool / useful. But like the OP first said, it might be a bit of overkill for me. Also the (eventual) cost might be a killer for me (still being a student and all...). Does anyone have any ideas / suggestions for a similarly useful app, preferably a free app or one that only has a one-time fee?

There are several task apps in the Aftermarket software section, some free.
Look at BBTaskPro, Doit, and others.
And Shopper.
