Default Yahoo! Go Problems - 12-04-2007, 09:28 PM

Anyone using Yahoo! Go? I've got 2.0 (Beta) build 2.0.71 on my Pearl. I originally installed it to keep an eye on some stocks, but I'm about ready to give up on it. I've tried removing it and reinstalling it but it keeps reverting back to an old portfolio that has since changed. Yahoo Mobile support said there are some old files cached on my phone from a previous version. They said I should do a master clear to remove the files.

Has anyone else experienced problems with Y! Go? Is it advisable to master clear my phone? What will be lost if I do that? How do I do that?

Thanks for the help.

i had the exact same problems with mine. i couldn't get the stocks and sport scores pages to accurately reflect my chosen stocks and chosen teams on my Yahoo page, which is how it is claimed to work. i already gave up on it....

Mine seems to be working, v2.0.69 on a Curve, just as it's supposed to be. Under my Modules I only show one module (YahooGo) listed.

I think what they're talking about is how data is stored on a BlackBerry, there are two programming methods.

Method 1 (RMS store) is tied to the app, so when you uninstall the app the settings/data are erased. Examples: Gmail applet, LogicMail, JiveTalk (I think). This method has the ability to uninstall then reinstall an app to get a "clean" state.

Method 2 (Persistence) is not tied tot he app, so if you uninstall an app the settings/data are maintained, reinstalling "picks up" the old information. Examples: SyncJe client, YahooGo.

What Yahoo support is asking (Master Clear) is to erase the persistent data left behind after you uninstall. The only way *I* know of to do that on a BB is to uninstall, backup, erase the device and restore the backup (a backup doesn't include left-behind persistent data).

YMMV, FYI and every other acronym warnings.
