Default Yahoo! vs Google - 12-07-2007, 11:23 AM

Hi folks;
I am currently using Google for my personal email and have no issues with it. Email is also mirrored to Yahoo! for backup. I'm thinking of going with a Hosted Domain setup and I can't decide between the two vendors.

I love Yahoo! Go for the BB and consider it one of the best designed BB apps out there. I use Google on the BB via BIS as well as the Google 1.5.1 client, but I like the integrated Yahoo Go features much better for the BB.

So.....my question is which Hosted Domain setup works best for you in the context of receiving emails on the BB (via BIS or BB client). This could be the tie breaker (I currently have my own domain so I will need to move it over).

I use Yahoo to host my Domain and I run my e-mail thru them. I do not use their Yahoo go as they have instant Push e-mail with BIS. I have no reason to open the browser to view mail- it is sent to me immediately and I can delete from BB or BB and Yahoo as needed.

Thanks for the feedback. It does seem that Yahoo! is spending more time working with Rim on various integration initiatives then Google.

Actually, the process I described will work on Google as well ( at least they say it will- I have never tried it). I just happen to use Yahoo and it works for me.

Either way you do not need to use Yahoo Go or the Google Client- the e-mail comes direct to the BB with BIS.

I use BIS as well, but I like the to use the BB client to keep personal emails seperate. Also, the BB applications provide functions that are unavailable with BIS (searching, filing, SPAM marking, archiving, etc)

I do all of that on the PC- I just go to Yahoo Business Mail and do all of that. I like the bigger screen on the PC for things like that. Does the client give you instant e-mail or do you have to check it?

If you don't mind me asking, how much do you pay per year for this? I'm getting a bit tired of the crappy BIS integration on my Hosted Google, it makes for double work having to deal with things on the PC and the BB separately...

They have different plans and just switched to Yahoo Business Mail _ I am not sure which plan I am on since they changed things around:

Business Email from Yahoo! Small Business
