Question Google Talk: Idle on holster?

Please Login to Remove!

I've been happily using Google Talk on my BlackBerry, but I've had one issue with it. It doesn't seem to idle all the time when I put my device in my holster, or even after some later timeout period.

Does anyone know when this happens or have some specifics? It doesn't seem to be documented at all on Google's or RIM's sites.

Welcome to the BB Forums.

I am not sure what you mean by "idle". Holstering the BB in a magnet-enabled holster will turn off the screen, etc., but it doesn't idle any applications that may be running in the background, such as an active browser page, JiveTalk or Google Talk, or even the media player. It may "quiet" that application, but it is still running in the background.

Thanks for the welcome.

Sorry for the ambiguity. I wasn't thinking of anything that the BlackBerry does natively when holstering. I mean that it doesn't set my Google Talk status to Idle, but remains Available.

The problem is that IMs are being sent only to my BlackBerry because it's Available when my device is in my holster in my pocket and I'm sitting at my computer (where my Google Talk client sets to idle when I step away from my computer for a minute).

Does GTalk have an idle setting, how long, etc?
I have not used it in a while on the BB, I don't remember.

Maybe another user here has some input.
