BB's have been notorious for losing memory over the course of several days and can usually be attributed to 3rd party apps.
Congrates on a job well done. I have to say I love this app, however I'm somewhat concern about the device memory, data storage. Is there away I can detele logbook storage?

From what he posted above it doesn't sound like it accumulates data in memory. It uses a small amount of space to save the small amount of logbook data (he posted the amount above.) I've not noticed any memory drop from this app. Also, one would assume that battery life would be affected but I've not noticed any ill-effects on the battery either.

Aw, shucks! You didn't have to do that just for me! It was my own fault for leaving that option checked when I didn't really need it. Either way, a fix is appreciated! Downloading the latest now.

I hope by this week I can fix the following stuff:

1. Add a manual reset of the monthly counter. Together with an option to NOT reset the value by the end of the month automatically it could be first work around for the "billing period problem"

2. Try to fix the problem "Uncaught exception: Application MiniMoni(149) is not respopnding; process terminated" when the application was running and the device is switched of...

3. Check the filling of the screen on the bottom for other devices then 8100

4. Check how the application can be started at boot up of the device (works in the simulator but not on a real device)

So far from my site.

Best regards

AxelE
i'm using your 30.4 now:

Axel how to reset monthly counter ? I don't see it in any preference nor the logbook.
as for number 4, still can't make it autostart upon device restart/boot up, how to do it

As a Rogers user, AxelE, you are a Godsend!!!

I have the $5 for 5MB data package (no BIS), and it tracks just TCP over edge, not wifi, which is perfect.

This is the best xmas gift a crackberry addict could ask for!

I've just installed it and all options look great. I'll let you know if any issues arrise from use with my 8320.

I like it this way, as well. Hopefully if/when wifi is added it will be available as a user preference.

He still has to address those issues, they are not implemented in the 30.4 build.

Axel - here is an interesting thing. It appears MinMoni counts sending an email (at least for me) as data usage. Testing, on only EDGE (T-Mobile) I start a Traffic Watch in MM. Then I compose a quick email to myself at work ("test" subject/body) and the Traffic Watch counted 808 bytes. (this alone is curious) To verify what I thought I grabbed the raw sent email from my work mailbox, deleted headers I knew were added later and saved it; it is 685 bytes. The remaining 123 bytes could have been network overhead in transmitting from the device to RIM, seams reasonable to me.

I find this interesting because most carrier phone plans for BlackBerry differentiate between email use and data use; for example on T-Mo you can buy unlimited email for $10, or unlimited email + unlimited data for $20 (the last time I looked). This would explain the problem a previous poster mentioned thinking his recorded data usage seemed awfully high - it (MiniMoni or the RIM API maybe?) was counting email usage as data usage.

Hmmm.

I'm assuming that this counter is just counting raw data coming and going from the device. For the email separation for billing at the carrier, wouldn't they be able to determine that another way? Different servers, etc. (that's all hocus pocus to me after it leaves my BB )

You do not need to be much concerned about that. One logbook entry counts less then 50 bytes if you don't add remarks. I'm currently working on the purging job giving you the option to delete everything older then 30 / 60 days. So the amount of memory will be maximum 60 days * 50 bytes = 3 kilobyte.

For the battery live I'm not really sure that it does not have an impact. If I let the application run overnight I will have a drop down of 2% of capacity. If I stop it in the evening it's only 0-1% (radio is running) overnight. So there is work done in the background. If you switch on the "cycle elapsed time" you can see that there is a small amount of processing time every second (In fact it does show the amount of milliseconds spent on calculating during one second, so a number of 10 would mean 1% processor load, roughly...)

But may be on a device with a bigger accumulator you can't see this small difference. May experience comes from a 8100

So the counter is just taking into account raw traffic OTA not counting WIFI. A distinction between mail and web is not possible on that level. I was not aware that there are so highly sophisticated data plans on the market
