It is the time in milliseconds the device needs to calculate all the stuff every second. So 36 to 44 means around 3.6 to 4.4 % CPU usage (more or less). I don't think that this can be the reason for draining the battery so fast. Could you please try to "Toggle graphic" from the menu, this switching of the graphical output. The cycle elapsed should drop down significantly ...
But never the less. This CPU load cannot be responsible to drain the battery. There must be another factor of the program consuming as much power.
May be there are other user with 8820 around there helping to identify this issue??

i've just re-installed on 2 8820
lets see it overnight hope it's just because i'm using the older minimoni on them last time (v0.30.0) now using 0.30.4.. (last time i use v0.30.4 only on the 8300)
but i think it's not because other program, because after i remove minimoni, my battery life went normal again, when i use minimoni battery life decreased by (around) 15% in 4 hours, whitout minimoni it still showed full capacity

I fear it will not change as the differences between the two versions are small. At least I can see no reason, why it should be different now
The only thing that I can imagine is the firmware release having some of the classes I use implemented in a different way.
May be you can tell me what else is installed on these devices, as it might be a coincident / interference with another app...

axel,
sorry back late to you, tested it for two days, now my 8820 seem prety normal to me, it last a day, maybe just because I couldn't reproduce the similar data traffic as before (ym + bb msgr+ jt + browsing), so I concur that must be because of my using behaviour non related to minimoni.
and about autostart on restart device on have you implement it ?

Ok, that sounds fine. Though it might be a combination of several events. If you produce heavy traffic, the app has to calculate more... But of course you use the radio all the time which does consume power as well.
For the autostart it's just a subject of test with signed code. But I have to prepare that... I saw that introducing the power up/off functions I need to take care now for one particular thing if I allow autostart.

I've been playing with MiniMoni for several days now, and find it to be a great app. I'm not on unlimited data, so I do have to watch my usage.
I have found the battery consumption to be minimal (my greatest fear) and have otherwise had no errors.
Two of my three wish-list items have already been mentioned; the first being auto-start on bootup, and the second being the ability to set the start cycle date. The third, which I didn't see mentioned but I might have missed it, is that it would remember the settings for the graphic toggle.
Although it may very well be that graphics on may consume no more cpu cycles or consume more battery power than graphics off, I would guess that graphics off would be more conservative. Anyways, the app always starts in graphics on mode so I wonder if this is a feature which might be added later?

Hello,
for you wishes...
1. Autostart is just a question of signing, I believe.
2. The cycle date setting is ready on my device and will be released soon.
3. If I do stop the graphic and stop the program afterwards it is still stopped if I do restart. What version are you using? And under which circumstances that happens?
Axel

I am running 0.31.3. But perhaps I wasn't too clear. If I escape or close (I don't think I'm really closing it though) the app, when I click on it, it will still be with graphics stopped, but if I reboot the phone, and then restart the app, then it will be with graphics on. So yes it does retain the settings and I don't have to constantly toggle it off (which I guess is the way I made it sound, sorry!) but when I restart the phone, then I do have to turn graphics off after starting MiniMoni.
It does seem to remember my preferences (it remembers that I want it in kilobytes and not bytes, for example) even on reboot, so I thought it odd that it didn't remember I liked graphics off. But I see now that it really isn't a setting in Preferences (yet).

Hi Axel - I have an idea (feature request) which is big but would be really, really cool.
It would be neat if MiniMoni Pro could include an actual packet capture of Traffic Watch and save the capture session to the SD card in Wireshark compatible format. Then we (the user) could get the packet capture off our SD card and load into Wireshark to look at network traffic.
Here is the wiki page of capture formats they support:
http://wiki.wireshark.org/FileFormatReference
...and the libpcap file format reference:
http://wiki.wireshark.org/Development/LibpcapFileFormat
...the implementation in Java:
http://netresearch.ics.uci.edu/kfuji...doc/index.html
I do realize this is a lot of work to code, but how cool. Do you think the RIM APIs could support this (I'm guessing you need signed code)?

Do you close MiniMoni with the menu function "Close" before you reboot? He should ask you if you really want to close. If not goto the preferences end check if there is a cross on "Never terminate". If you delete this cross he should ask you if you want to close on closing. Doing that he writes the preferences including if the graphic was currently suspended. If you just boot I have no chance to write that to the preferences.

It really sound like a cool idea. But too cool to be true
I'll have a look on the sources later. But what I already saw is some c code as well what might the biggest issue to implement ...

Ahhhh... I see. Yep, it works just as you said. I think that since I had it set to never terminate from the beginning, I could never close it, and so I could never really save it.
That's it for me, Imma happy. :D

I noticed that the program didn't track my bandwidth today. I had to manually force it to update today's bandwidth. Now it seems to be working automatically again.
Now I'm curious if this has happened before (stopped and started on it's own)?
Has anyone had such issues? Has anyone been able to compare their billed data vs. minimoni?

How did you forced it? By using "Update now" from menu? And what does it mean: it did'nt track? Didn't the graphic moved anymore?
Another question: Was the device switched off before (either manually or automatically)?

I noticed that the counter for "today" was zero even though I visited a few web pages. I can't recall if the graphic was moving but once I selected "update now" everything seemed to be working again. It make sence that it wouldn't be moving at the time.
I also never turn my device off.

billmad,
I have no real idea now. The "Update now" just calculate the sum, updates the screen and write the data to the persistent store. The timer scheduling this is still running and must have been running before because it is not re triggered by this function. The only thought I have: The update of sum is done every minute only. So it takes max one minute to reflect the traffic in the summary figures ... But I don't believe that you surfed around several pages in less then one minute ... For the time being that what I can say. I'll keep an eye on it ...

Is the .jad file still available? When I pointed my BB browser to the OTA link I was told the page I requested was not available. The only doc there was a .zip file.

people like me, and it's because I have limited traffic of 200mb/month, since we don't have real flatrates here in Germany. The traffic monitor on the t-mobile website only updates once every 24h, therefore this app here is great, just as an orientation!

Hello Stefan,
great you enjoy it. But there is a flat in Germany, which I'm using. So normally I personally had no reason to write the program
Happy 2008 to all around.

Upon further use, it appears I can no longer use my browser, 'do more' and 'bb help' any more with the app installed. once I removed the app, these were all fine. Any idea why this would happen?
Thanks,

Right version ? and few questions -
02-08-2008, 11:56 PM
AxelE, firstly, this application is GREAT ! Hats off to you, for making this happen.
After installing it on my 8310, version say 1.01.01 - is this the right one ?
Is there a way to modify the period start and end date to synch with my billing period ?
Just like how we can reset the period counter, can we do that for the Today counter ?
what is cycle elapsed time ?
If there is an FAQ somewhere that I have missed let me know, which may have answers to these questions.
thanks and once again, great product !
Bernie

Just like how we can reset the period counter, can we do that for the Today counter ?
what is cycle elapsed time ?
If there is an FAQ somewhere that I have missed let me know, which may have answers to these questions.
