Lightbulb Mobile Gas Price Checkers?

Please Login to Remove!

I came across this situation yesterday as I was leaving school to head home. I had about 1/4 tank of gas, and I had to decide whether to fill up in town or later down the road. Gas prices are typically pretty drastically different in different parts of the state (Virginia), and I had no idea whether the town prices were cheaper or more expensive relatively.

To try to solve this problem, I sat in the car for about 15 minutes trying to scroll through the various google results (gasbuddy.com, motortrend.com, etc.) with little luck. Finally frustrated beyond my limit, I just filled up in town.

I suspect if a product were to emerge that linked with any (or all) of the online-gas-prices websites and spat out the cheapest gas prices within a zip code, within a set mile/km radius (of gps location or specified location), or along a specified major highway, people, including myself, would eat it up.

Has anyone heard of a product like this? Does anyone know a company that may be up for the task?

Wow, now that I have a little more visual freedom on a computer, I've come across many options. Check them out:

FuelGo.com: Mobile Gas Price Lookup (no longer available)
GPW has a mobile application compatible with the BB
^GPW uses the GetMobio application (named one of top 10 mobile applications of 2007 by Fierce Wireless)
