Default TaskInjector Allows People to Remotely Update your ToDo List - 12-18-2007, 09:49 PM

Hey guys,
I just got done developing my latest entry: TaskInjector. Basically TaskInjector allows other people to remotely update your default Blackberry Task List through email. So for example, if your spouse wants you to go shopping, they send you an email with a special tag, and shopping is added to your todo list. They can even set the priority to low, medium or high.

You can find out more and download a trial (the full version is $4.99) at my website here.

I hope you guys like it.

If anyone tells my wife about this program, they're a dead man.

It is pretty cool, though.

Danabw - I totally agree! Wouldn't most anal-retentive blackberry users despise someone having control over our task list?

How much detail can the injector provide to the task list? Can it set a due date? Does the contract name show up in the task?

Does this work with all email accounts on the blackberry or just a BES account?

Thanks,

Mark

Looks great. I'll have to take a look. What about those who bought DoIt Pro last week when it was first released (I assume it is no longer supported). Do we get a free upgrade?

This looks interesting........but I'm not telling my wife about this though.

How long is the trial?

It should work with any email account that goes to your Blackberry. For now it can only set priority as well as the task summary but in the future I may add a dude date etc to it. Yes all previous Convenience Software customers get a free copy, if you bought DoIt Pro the free copy is already in your inbox. If you bought FindIt, email me and I will be happy to send you a free one!

Installed, sent two emails (Gmail) to myself with "newtasktodo" in the subject line and nothing is added to my tasks.

Never got the DoIt Pro trial to work on my Blackberry. Downloaded the trial for TaskInjector and tested it out and it worked both times I was able to use it during the trial. Simple app that works.

Question: How do you set the priority? It says you can do so at the site but you do not list how to do so.

When in doubt, empty the magazine...

Mr. K-

To clarify, when sending "newtasktodo" in the subject line, do NOT include the quotes.

I did not use the quotes when testing.

I guess I'll just consider this a lesson learned. Don't buy software based on a demo that only allows you to use it once and don't assume everything on Handango is tested and functional. I bought Doit Pro becuase I wanted a simple program that would allow me to create a shopping list and check things off as I go. I don't really have a need for people to be able to send me tasks.

MrKyoo, it is probably not working because you have not sent it to the right email address. As is stated in the manual that you should have received after downloading, if the task is not added to the email that you send it to at first, try sending it all to of the email addresses that go to your Blackberry. The task should then show up.

quazi11, I was not aware that you were unhappy with DoIt Pro. If you were having problems, you should have emailed me. If you would like, and bought DoIt Pro through my website I would be glad to give you a complete refund immediately. If you bought through Handango, I'm not quite sure how the refund process works but I will look into it and see if it is possible.

In reply to the length of the trial, you get two TaskInjects before it stops working.

As a friendly suggestion, I'd up the trial to something more reasonable (like 10 or so at least) so your potential customers can feel comfortable w/how it works, and try a few variants...I don't think I'd buy software that had such a limited trial.

No offense intended, just wanted to share some customer feedback...

Thats actually a very good idea. I will definitely lengthen it once I get the time. You are absolutely right.

I think quazi11's point is that you are replacing the DoIt Pro application with a totally different application that does not do the same thing.

Also, how do you set priority? Not that I can try it out since I hit my two limit usage on the demo.

Now who reads a manual?

As is also stated in the manual to set a priority (lets say a high priority) you do this:
high\this is the task i want injected
for a low priority, you do this:
low\this is the task i want inject
for normal priority its this:
medium\this is the task i want injected

I did email you when I read on this forum that you were going to provide an update to Doit Pro that would enable deletion of tasks. I also sent you an email after I had used it for a day and found that I had some tasks duplicated and the check marks were not retained when I shut down the application.

At that point I was hoping to get an update to Doit Pro. A few days later I read one of your blogs that said you were considering rebranding the application as Injectit and then you sent me the link to TaskInjector. My assumption is that I won't be seeing any updates to Doit Pro. I'm not unhappy with the software, I'm just disappointed that I bought it less than two weeks ago and now it appears it might not be functional.

I was originally planning to rebrand it, but because some customers (you included) are unhappy about this, I have decided to work on an update after all for DoIt Pro.
