Hi im a newbe to blackberry and im loving my 8700! ive got mini opera and the internet running fine and i have instaled gmail too. The problem is gmail appears as a icon on my screen but inorder to get my mail i have to click on gmail to see if there is any mail rather than being notified the instance a mail arrives in my acount. Ive heard that gmail can be set up to instantly notify when a mail arrives, so id be very gratefull if someone has got any tips on how to set this up!!

I believe there is a setting in the GMail application that you have to enable in order for it to allow for Notifications. I don't have the latest version installed for GMail but do you have that setting enabled? I think it is in the More > Settings section.

Then you can, I believe, edit your Profile to allow for GMail notifications.

It should be in your profiles. Profiles, advanced, edit and you should see a Gmail notification item.
