can you seriously not afford 20$? the program is by far the best and obviously the programmer put some good time into it. even at minimum wage, you would have to work some 2.5 hrs. how about supporting the program instead of trying to get it free.

First, did I ask for the program for free? No I did not. Second, There is a whole entire thread on a coupon, actually there are three threads on coupons for this program, showing that I am not the only person who would like to save a few bucks. Third, the programmer is giving the program away to any fool that purchased an iphone, and the program was free until recently for the Blackberry, so his time and effort have no correlation to my wanting to save a few bucks when he gives it away to others. Lastly, who in the hell do you think you are to come on here and post something like this? Not only did you provide nothing to my conversation, but you insult me and try to belittle me while you are at it. The only real insight you provided by your response is that you are an ASS.

Ok, let's get back on track here!
Mastdog, The program is excellent! have you tried it for the free 30 day trial? I love this program, it is by far my favorite 3rd party app. I've seen other users suggesting to google "JiveTalk coupon". You may have some success there. I hope this helps you.

Thanks again.

This is a completely unnecessary post. The OP was asking for legitimate input from the BBF community, since that is what we do here. Let's also keep in mind that "coupons" are generated/issued by the company selling the software, so clearly its part of their business model, and said coupons can be revoked at any time.

coupon codes for jivetalk -
01-19-2008, 01:49 AM
Saw this on one of the boards. Never tried it, but hope it works for you. Code was: UPGRDE or IPRELAY for $5 off the $19.95 version.
Hope this helps everyone who is interested. Sarcasm sucks, keep it to yourself next time.
We're all here because we are blackberry users and are interested in testing new available software to keep our continuing interest in RIM products

Please, read the thread carefully before responding. His just asking for a coupon, everybody wants to save a few bucks on something.
As for the coupon, I'm not sure if there is any around, I will post it if I find any.

ohhh I read the thread perfectly fine. I would think the smart thing to do is if the programmer put out discount codes then why just email the programmer and ask him yourself? Dont you think if the programmer wanted everyone to save some money he would either make the program cheaper or post up-to-date codes on a thread here or the programs website. It seems to me that they were made for certain people or groups that have CONTRIBUTED to the program in the past and the programmer is giving them a thank you. If you have to go searching and asking for coupon codes then obviously they werent meant for you. Besides if it the first time your using the program, then why should you or anyone be entitled to a discount and not the thousands of other users who have been using it before you.

So is it possible that the coupons were posted places and the OP was simply unable to find them for whatever reason. That never happens on these forums right?
Not sure why I am taking the time here, it seems you would argue with a fence post.

Right on, that worked for me today. I was trying out a few different clients, like IM+, for instance, and JiveTalk seemed a little better in the options department. I haven't had time to sit and monkey with all the settings just yet, but it does what I need it to!
I started riding the bus this week, commuting to work, and this app is absolutely great! I chatted with my brother in Texas (I'm in Washington state), and other friends across the country. By the time I looked up, I'm at work! I also managed to remember my ICQ password, which is kewl. I signed up for ICQ, one of the first chat programs available, within the first week of release, my ICQ # is 208013! Since it was registered with a WAY OLD email address, I couldn't reset the password, but I finally remembered it. Of course, all the contacts I have on there are so old...

Jeez! That intiial reply was the exact reason I never asked for a coupon for this program. It turns out that his thread actually shows there are a lot of cool people on here that would have taken the question seriously. I should have asked long ago. Thanks to the OP!
Coupon codes and discounts are always cool! Sometimes they make you buy something you were on the fence about.
(got to wonder if the flame response comes from someone that never uses any coupon... like "$1 off at Subway"... jeez, can't he seriously afford a $5 sandwich? Even a person on minimum wage can afford a sandwich... Hope you catch my drift, toungue in cheek)

I bought jivetalk because of the coupon. That's $15 the developer got that he otherwise wouldn't.
And, I must say... this program is fantastic!

When push comes to shove, I have a corporate job in which I travel a lot and am busy like 95% of the time. When it comes to trying to find a coupon for 10-15% off a product that is 30$ I dont even bother. Is saving 4.50$ worth having to search the net and wait for someone to "possibly" have a valid coupon? 4.50$ are you serious??? Its just not worth the effort, besides its ppl like me who will pay the already reasonable price of the program and allow it to be successful that the programer will offer such coupon codes. Still its funny what ppl will do to save a buck. I mean I would understand if we were talking about buying a BES and RIM had like half off coupons. Thats worth searching for!!!!

Perhaps you don't realize not everyone has the means to buy things like you do? Why the need to put someone down because they like or need to save a few dollars here and there?

The means like me? I think you need to re-evaluate what you mean by "means." So your trying to tell me, someone has the money to go buy a blackberry which is not known for being cheap. Then they have to buy a data plan from their carrier which is around 25$/month and a voice plan which prolly starts at 50$/month. If you or another user can afford paying that then why are you complaining about 4.50$?? does that make sense? If you think the program is too expensive then why buy it in the first place? there are many other IM programs that are cheaper and not to mention free. JiveTalk is worth every penny of what its being charged.

No one said it wasn't worth the price. I don't understand why you have a problem with someone asking about a coupon. Most people like a bargain... nothing wrong with that.

maybe you didnt read my last post then. there are MANY OTHER IM programs out there, some of which are cheaper or free. Most ppl dont like how IM+ is 50$ so they buy JiveTalk. If you cant afford JiveTalk then thats that. Dont complain about it. Either go work a couple extra hours at Burger King or go download the free ones like Ramble or one provided by your service provider. Obviously the programmer made these coupons to give out for a limited time or only to certain ppl. There is a reason why in previous posts ppl complain that the coupons codes no longer work. Maybe its because the programmer realized the coupons had been leaked and were being distributed to more ppl then he wanted. Dont you think its weird to be coming on this forum to find discounts for a program on another site? If the programmer wanted to "hook-up" potential customers then why wouldnt he post the coupons on his own website?
