Whats up everyone I am getting my Blackberry 7520 from Nextel sometime tomorrow. last time I had a 7520 I used Verichat for my instant messaging services but I have been somewhat keeping up with "the times" and heard good things about ramble. I was wondering what everyones input was about the two. I have no problem paying for verichat because I loved the program when I last used it but ramble is free so that would be cool to not have to pay for it. any input would be cool

Nevermind I answered my own question after reading some reviews about it around the forum...im still open for everyones opinions

ramble only supports AIM

All I will use is aim....but I havent hears anything good about the stability...im going to use the trial on verichat then once it runs out ill buy the liscensing for it...

What's wrong with Rambles stability. I use it and it works fine for me. Yes, I do get log off from times to times but as I understand it, they all do that. For the price I can take a few log offs.

Hi, but what's wrong with IM+ stability ? I use IM+ 3 months and it works fine.
My friend has a @mac account in AOL, he couldn't log in to AOL via IM+. But recently SHAPE fix this trouble and now he logs in without any problems.

I havent personaly tried it...I read a few posts that said the stability was horrible..but I have now seen two people say it worked fine for them..I will download it and check it out in the morning...

I have found that Ramble's major limitation is that it is AIM only - otherwise is it great and I liek its functionality. I did not like IM

Yes, I use both Yahoo! and AIM regularly, thus Ramble having only AIM doesn't cut it for me. Although I did like VeriChat, the yearly fee turns me off.

As for IM+, I'm evaluating it at the moment, I have to admit, the price is very tempting, as it is a one-time fee. There is a slight delay in messages being delayed as much as 30 seconds during testing. I may not have it configured optimally though.

IM+ asking me for what should default to regular Yahoo! server settings is a pain. Why not store the standard server/port settings? (Rhetorical question, should be directed to the developers)

So i hear Ramble IM is free. Just to clarify...which part is free? Does this service use the AOL/IM network and therefore does not rack up SMS or TXT charges? Any airtime charges? Just want to know what to expect when you all mention "FREE"

Correct. It uses internet/data, not SMS, so as long as you have unlimited data, it should not incur a charge from your carrier.

Are you sure? Carriers have been know to charge for third-party application data. They're definition of "unlimited data" is data send/received through the included WAP and BB browsers, PIN, or e-mail.

I've been charged for VeriChat data, BBToday Weather Data, etc. I don't get charged for PINs, e-mail, or internet, including posting here wirelessly.

Without checking with each carrier, I can't be sure, but I have not heard from any users saying otherwise.

Nextels Unlimited is truly Unlimited.

I had to call Cingular and insist they add unlimited data (they call it "internet express" here) and include it in the price of my BB unlimited plan... since it's supposed to be unlimited. I don't incur charges for third party apps usage (Webmessenger, PocketDay, Verichat etc.)

When I was still using my BB 7730, I was using IM+ and it never let failed on me.

one big differance I noticed between Verichat and ramble is that Verichat allows for multiple instances of the same screen name, so I don't need to sign off and back on all of the time.

Last time I looked, Ramble doesn't show a person's away message either. I wish they would add that.

Yeah, that's a limitation of the particular AOL protocol that is being used. I can't access the away message directly, that's why Ramble puts the away message in the profile as well, so other Ramble users can view it.

I also only use AIM for chat and have found Ramble to be a wonderful free alternative to cost-based platforms. I have had little to no connection issues and I have found overall performance to be inline with that of VeriChat (which I did use for some time). I agree, for those who use services other than AIM, Ramble cannot be a full solution, but I have had nothing but success with it.
