Default E-Mail Program that uses GSM Data and NOT Blackberry Conect - 01-19-2008, 05:03 PM

Hello,

I have JUST upgraded from the 7280 to the 8700r. I do not want to use the Blackberry conect as i get 16mb data a month now for free with my current package.

Can anyone please suggest an email client that will work for me?

Thnak you.

There are no email clients that don't use some kind of data. Folks get Google Mail without a Blackberry data plan using the GMail stand-alone app, but they do have some kind of generic data plan. Only SMS messages and the phone don't use any data.

Blackberry Connect is a program that emulates Blackberrys on other types of hardware, like Nokia phones. Turns it into a virtual Blackberry, right down to a PIN number. Your $2/month plan is a generic smartphone plan? You can get GMail with that through their stand alone app or access email through the Opera Mini web browser. You won't get push email into the Blackberry's email program without a Blackberry Data Plan, however.

Try Consilient - Free Push Email and Mobile Advertising. The interface for BlackBerry is light years behind the interface for other devices, but it provides the best push email for people without BIS/BES data plans.

Is there a way to close the consilient app? Even when i Exit application, mail is still beeing pushed to my phone. So far, the only way to stop this is to turn the phone off. Is there a way to turn it off?
