I tried the new beamberry's PDF opening feature - it is not native on device opening, PDF file is copied from the SD card to their server, converted and downloaded back. We were thinking adding this feature to MasterDoc some time ago and thought this is way too complex. What do you guys think, is this useful?

Well, that's kludgy, but better than not opening at all...

Sergey, don't forget to tell IanR that MasterDoc opens Office 2007 documents (I just checked at the site).

I've been testing eOffice, writing a review. Unfortunately, I run into that problem very often too.

IanR - could you send an email to our support to look at why you get no file back? I'm sure they will solve it quickly, they might need some info from you.

As far as on device viewer, you're both right . The devices are faster now, but the issue remains J2ME. It is a limited version of desktop Java and is missing a lot of components necessary for PDF processing. It is also substantially slower and has memory limitations. This is why everybody goes for server conversion.

BTW, MasterDoc can convert PDF files and load them to the device. You need eFile Desktop and ViewAll converter installed on your PC and copy files by dragging them from the PC pane to the Device Files pane. It converts the file and stores it in the device memory. From there you can copy it to the SD card.

Desktop converter converts into a special internal format for viewing by MasterDoc. This file is then stored on the device,

Hi Sergey,

I'm still trying out the eOffice v4.3 and encountered problem accessing Excel 2007 file attachment from my device. Dynoplex support have helped me to get the "Edit Attachment" option out but now I get error when opening the attachment for editing in eCell. I also have problem doing a preview of that file(error 537: Cannot get response from URL. Pls contact support). There sure is alot of waiting time to view or edit a file. Anyway, I have written to support abt my problem jst wondering if other users encounter the same thing or does it only happen to 8707v devices. Really hope to be able to get on with my evaluation soon.

Aud.
