Default Beta users needed for Noah Bible Viewer 4 - 01-26-2008, 11:32 AM

Noah Bible Viewer is the first and from what I hear by far the most powerful offline Bible reader for BlackBerry.

Our goal is to bring all public domain Bibles to the BlackBerry at no cost other than the cost of the viewer itself, which, since BlackBerry development is rather specific and actually does cost to produce, is commercial.

Noah 4 introduces support for media cards, extended bookmark management and more.

We have also developed a free FTP client for BlackBerry called BeFTP. With BeFTP's help one can download files directly to the media card from our FTP or other server, something, which we have not been able to achieve with the built-in browser. BeFTP can also be used as a very simple file manager.
There should be an official BeFTP announcement soon.

To facilitate the beta-testing process, we have created a closed and moderated Yahoo Group at noahbv : Noah Bible Viewer for BlackBerry .

If interested in beta testing , please apply there BEFORE Jan 31st 2008.

Obviously, most who provide valuable feedback will be rewarded with activation key for the application or other BEIKS applications.

We will keep monitoring this thread as well, however we will not be publishing the beta download publicly.

I'm interested. Is there a catholic bible available?

I have a bb 8700g 4.2.1.101 os.

8700 does not have a media card...no much use of testing media card features

As for the catholic Bible...point me to a good public domain source and I will see if we can have it released.

For anyone who may come across this post, we are ready to provide you with a builder if interested in generating Bibles for Noah by yourself.

It's not quite trivial, though...certainly requires decent HTML knowledge and advanced computer skill level.

We do have a simple guide to get you started, but you'd still have to install Java and BlackBerry JDE in order to be able to compile e-books.

I'll try to point you to a catholic bible on monday.

Is it possible to read over the air instead have the bible installed?

Best,

I have been using your application on my 7290 for over a year and it is now the only Bible I carry. I hope to seeon have a 8320 but until then I guess I won't be much use in this Beta program.

I wonder if you guys can soon add commentaries and bible study notes that sync with the scripture you are viewing? I guess one thing at a time...

Good work guys!

Very interested in this. I have an 8130 and the thing I miss the most from my Sprint Touch is MyBible.

Well, I would be willing to give it a try. I managed to do a bible for PalmBible+ once. It took me some time, but I was able to get it done.

I'm really interested in trying this out. I've been unable to install bible software to my 8830, because of the lack of media card support. I've signed up on your yahoo group as well.

The 8830 DOES have media card support. You can put a microSD card in it.

Yes, I know my 8830 has media card support... but until now No bible software packages have supported media cards. Hence, my excitement in trying out this new beta...

Is this testing still going on? How is it going? I applied over at Yahoo but my request has been pending for a couple of days.

Also, what about study notes. Any chance of adding study notes in the future?

You can add notes with this version, although I have had a few of them erased, not sure why. Give him a little while and he should answer you. I have been using it for a few days with no problems other than the notes. You can not search your notes though which I think would be great.

I wonder if there will be a way to backup the notes. This way you can restore them if you have to wipe the device or it crashes for some reason.

I'm still pending at the Yahoo group so I acept that to mean I missed the Beta program. V2 which I paid for doesn't work on my Curve. It just stays in Genesis. Before I worry about trying to fix v2, how soon do you guys predict v4 will be out?

Looks like I'll have to carry one of those things with two covers and paper in the middle tomorrow??? Or maybe I'll dig out my scroll since we're going to the past???

I'm interested, how is it possible to get a hold on this builder? In latin america we're very interested in generating the Reina Valera 1960 public domain version, as only the Reina Valera Antigua is currently built for the Noah Viewer

you still need testers for the Bible app? i've been using Olive Tree BibleReader, but it isn't all that user friendly, so I've been looking for an alternative.

First, we've already released the Bible builder to a selected subset of devoted users and they reported successful conversion.

Admittedly, it's not an easy task, but it's apparently doable...results of their efforts should soon become available.

Second and unrelated, we just got ready with Noah 4.1 release candidate and are looking for a few new "fresh" beta testers (other than the ones we already have).

If interested, reply here. If we like your profile and posting history we'll get in touch.

Noah 4.1 is the first free Noah upgrade in the history of the application...coming to show commercial upgrades are not just wasted money after all.

It is not a must-have upgrade, but it falls between two major milestones on our product roadmap and it was justified to make it publicly available for free.

BBChristopher, check your email.

coach P and awery, each of you has only two posts on BBForums...I am not sure if I have mentioned it in this particular thread (I apologize if I have not) but we require a minimum of 10 posts before we evaluate an applicant for the beta group...and yes, we bother actually reading some of their posts.

It's a combination of security measure and productivity enhancement. People without tendency to post have proven to be bad at providing feedback also and the opposite, people who have tendency to post often also seem to like to provide feedback.

Hope you understand.

I do understand. I currently use Noah 4.0 and could provide some feedback for you. I've beta tested dozens of programs for other companies/developers.

I look forward to seeing what you have done when you release it.

CoachP, Noah Bible Viewer for BlackBerry is long available for public download...we periodically keep looking for new faces for beta-testing new features as we need to keep the fresh look perespective.

I mean you know how it is in testing software - you ask a few times for something and you're told it's on the todo list or you ask how to do something and you're told and it may not be that intuitive, but once you get used to it it's OK....so we periodically let new people in our beta group just to keep hearing the "invisible obvious"

But if you are interested in Noah, just go to its page on our site at BlackBerry dictionaries, phrase books and other language and reference solutions by BEIKS or directly to Welcome to BEIKS mobile!.
