Default Pearlcast Released: Updates your Pearl's color based on Forecast - 01-26-2008, 12:30 PM

Hey guys,
My latest product Pearlcast has just gotten to version 1.5. Here is the description of Pearlcast from my website:

If you pulled your Blackberry Pearl out of your pocket right now, could you, within one second, be able to tell the weather forecast for your zip-code?

Have you seen those globes at fancy gadget stores that change color as the weather changes? Now your Blackberry will check the forecast automatically and change the color of the Pearl to let you know exactly what your weather will be.

Want more detailed information? Just open Pearlcast and your local weather forecast will be displayed instantly!

Pearlcast is fully customizable and everything from the minutes between updates, to which color means what, can be set in a snap. It can also set your Pearl's color according to a variety of criteria including the one day forecast, the current conditions or the current temperature.

Pearlcast works with all models of Blackberry but is recommended for use with the 8100 series because these are the only Blackberry's with colored led's behind the trackball. Even if your Pearl doesn't light up, Pearlcast continuously updates its icon on your homescreen to give you the same instant information access as users with colored Pearls!
Right now its priced at $4.99.
You can learn more and try out the demo at my site.
I hope you guys like it!

Wirelessly posted (8320 Curve: BlackBerry8320/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Nice software. I have a cyrve so it won't work, but great program. Just out of curosity, where does it get the information from? (Weather.com?) Also, how does It get the updates... If it uses data, that's a bummer, because a lot of my friends don't have data plans.

Now, why you get a berry with no data is beyond me.

But anyways, ill get some of my friends with a data connection to try it and ill let u no how it works

It gets the information from Yahoo which in turn gets their information from Weather.com.

Any chance of making a version for the Curve that'd use the LED?

Pearlcast actually also updates its icon color according to how your Pearl would light if it had colored LED's, so you still get the instant/ambient information access that you would ordinarily. I would be glad to do a version for the Curve and will include an LED lighting option in the 2.0 release.
